Important points of FIR

The FIR need not contain full details. Its sole purpose is to set the investigative body in motion.2004YLR447

 The purpose of an FIR is to state the particulars of the crime and not the informant. The purpose of registering an FIR is to set the investigating agency in motion. 1883 PCr. LJ 2013

Following are the essentials of report initialization:

Such report should be related to an indictable offence.

If such information is given to the police officer in charge of the station, he should either record it or it should be recorded under his direction. "

After being thus recorded, it should be read to the informant.

The informant should sign it.

The summary thereof shall be entered by the Officer-in-charge of the Police Station in the prescribed form in a register kept for the purpose.

First Information Report of a violation under the law is reported by any person who is affected or harmed or by any other person 1883 PCr. LJ 2013

Information given by telephone or wire shall not be called initial report. Because such a report is unsigned and the validity of such a report is when the police officer himself reaches the crime scene. Another FIR regarding the same matter or occurrence may also be registered. 61 YLR 2006

 لازم نہ ہے کہ ایف آئی آر میں مکمل تفصیلات موجود ہوں۔ اس کا واحد مقصد صرف تحقیقاتی ادارہ کو حرکت میں لانا2004YLR447  

 ایف آئی آر کا مقصد جرم کی تفصیلات کا بیان ضروری ہے نہ کہ اطلاع دینے والے کا۔ اندراج ایف آئی آر کا مقصد تحقیقاتی ادارے کو حرکت میں لانا ہوتا ہے۔ 1883 PCr. LJ 2013

ابتدائی اطلاعی رپورٹ کے لوازمات مندرجہ ذیل ہیں۔

ایسی رپورٹ کسی جرم قابل دست اندازی کی نسبت ہونی چاہئے۔

 اگر ایسی اطلاع پولیس افسر انچارج تھانہ کو دی گئی ہو تو یا تو وہ اسے قلمبند کرے یا اس کی ہدایت کےتحت قلمبند کی جائے۔ "

اس طرح قلمبند کئے جانے کے بعد اسے اطلاع دہندہ کو پڑھ کر سنایا جائے۔

اطلاع دہندہ اس پر دستخط کرے۔

اس کا خلاصہ افسر انچارج پولیس اسٹیشن مقرر کردہ فارم میں ایسے رجسٹر میں درج کرے جو اس مقصدکے لئے رکھا

ابتدائی اطلاعی رپورٹ قانون کے تحت خلاف ورزی کی اطلاع کوئی بھی شخص ہے جو متاثرہ یا ضرر رسید ہو یا اس کی طرف سے کوئی دوسرا شخص 1883 PCr. LJ 2013 

ٹیلی فون یا تار کے ذریعے دی جانے والی اطلاع ابتدائی رپورٹ نہیں کہلائے گی ۔ کیونکہ ایسی رپورٹ بلا دستخط ہوتی ہے اور ایسی رپورٹ کی وقعت اس وقت ہوتی ہے جب پولیس افسر خود جائے وقوعہ پر پہنچ جائے ۔ ایک ہی معاملہ یا وقوع کے بارے میں دوسری ایف آئی آر بھی درج رجسٹر ہوسکتی ہے۔ 61 YLR 2006
